YouTube launched new tools on Tuesday at the Made on YouTube event live in New York. This included the ability to convert video podcasts into YouTube Shorts or clips as well as a feature for creating videos by audio-only Podcasters. The two tools will both be powered by AI, and they will launch in the coming months.
The company claims that video podcasters in the U.S. can create more clips with AI suggestions using AI technology. It will be available on the “coming months,” While a new feature will be available early next year that turns these clips into YouTube Shorts.
This could help YouTube compete against rival apps like TikTok, Instagram Reels, and TikTok, while also driving subscribers and engagement by directing them to podcasters on YouTube.
Another new feature will also be available in the first quarter of next year to help audio podcasters convert their content into videos. The company claims that these creators can create a customized video using AI. The feature is only available for “select podcasters” The expansion will be larger in the second half of 2026.

YouTube is more interested in building tools for podcasters, and has done so over the last few years. Meanwhile, Spotify has been inching into its market with added support for video podcasts and other engagement features for podcasters, like comments, polls, and Q&As, as well as monetization tools.
