Buffer has helped me build my posting habits on LinkedIn over the last couple of years. I share what I learn, post about life and work, and try to be consistent. There’s always been one thing missing: an easy way to track what is working.

Today, we will introduce exactly that: Google Profile Analytics. is now available within Buffer.

We built it

LinkedIn had reserved the detailed analytics for Company Pages. Many creators, freelancing, entrepreneurs, consultants and people like myself are building their audiences from their personal profiles. It is there that the conversation happens. This is the place where people post most often.

LinkedIn is a partner we are very proud of. an official launch partner For their new Analytics API. We’re excited to offer this new API to Buffer users from day one.

What’s new

Within Buffer you can now see post-level statistics for your LinkedIn Personal Profile.

You’ll find the following information for each of your posts:

  • The total number of impressions
  • Reactions
  • Comments
  • Shares
  • Engagement rate
  • Views
  • Watch Time
  • Unique viewers for video posts.

Buffer’s Publishing section includes a tab called Sent Posts, which contains the LinkedIn analytics. We have big plans in the future for our Analytics feature.

What I use it for personally

At least three posts per week are made on LinkedIn. Some weeks go better than others. My life is busy with a job, three kids (including twins), and my full-time work. Life can be busy at times, just like everyone else. Staying consistent with your goals has allowed you to achieve incredible results.

Over the last 28 days, I have reached over 30,000 LinkedIn users. The top performing post is a story I wrote about how to balance work, family and health. It has received 14,179 views and counting.

This kind of feedback motivates me and is a great guide for what I will share in the future.

Posts include a variety of content including product marketing advice and reflections. I also post behind-the scenes material, as well as new Buffer features. These new analytics allow me to:

  • Spot patterns. What type of post generates more conversations? What formats are more effective?
  • Consistency is key. Having post-level data helps me keep my rhythm, even during busy weeks.
  • Fine-tune topics. Data points me to themes which seem more likely to generate engagement and interaction.

The key is to not overthink each metric. Just get enough data to learn and improve.

What to do first?

Your analytics will be waiting for you in your Sent Posts tab. In the Sent Posts Tab, you’ll see your analytics.

Buffer allows you to connect LinkedIn directly from your dashboard.

  1. Add LinkedIn as a channel to Buffer
  2. View analytics on your “Sent Posts”.

You can now plan, create, and analyze all your LinkedIn content in one location.

Here’s More

LinkedIn is a great platform for creatives. People are using their profiles to build real audiences, share expertise, grow businesses and find real opportunities. It’s just the beginning. We are excited to continue building tools to make it easier for you to grow your business on LinkedIn, and other platforms.
