Copywriting is the key to my success online. I have made seven-figure incomes.

I have founded, sold and currently am a Partner in Copyblogger. This is a community and course that has a 7 figure income.

Copywriting is my key to increasing customer numbers.

My revenue is almost entirely derived from marketing methods like social media, email newsletters, blog posts and other written channels.

These are the copywriting tactics and tips that I would have liked to know earlier.

Would you like to receive 6 courses, ten videos for ongoing education, plus much more, all for $1?

Joining our Academy costs only one dollar for the first month. This means that you have no risk to try out our Academy and can learn tons without any cost. The best online place to learn about content, copywriting and sales was always this site. It’s now very affordable. Get in now for a dollar. We will eventually make the price $300 or more.

What makes a great copywriter?

To begin with, being a better writer doesn’t necessarily mean that you can write more elegantly.

The opposite can often be true.

Good copywriters should be concise and clear. Turn readers into paying customers.

Instead of improving the Crafts Focus on ways to increase your income instead of trying to write more elegantly. Your words are your own.

Copywriting careers are more rewarding if your work can demonstrate that it can produce a better ROI than market average.

Keeping this in mind, I’ve compiled my top ten pieces of advice for becoming a better writer.

1.) 1.)

As a copywriter, your job is to grab the attention of a prospective customer, establish trust, present a solution to them, address their objections and, ultimately, convert them into customers.

Understanding the customer’s needs is essential to achieving this goal.

  • Pain pointsWhat makes them look for solutions?
  • ObjectionWhat are your most frequent concerns regarding the product?
  • TranslationAre they more professional in style or casual?

If you take a look at Ramit’s Earnable landing page, for example, you will see how he has perfectly painted the image of his ideal client.

You can say it instead of saying “here’s how to make more money,” He grabs readers’ attention by reflecting the pain that they are currently experiencing (9-5, Netflix after work, Home Depot trips on the weekends, Instagram scrolling for hours).

The best copywriters are those who can describe the situation that prospects face and then repeat that back to them. This shows the reader you have a deep understanding of the reality.

If you are able to paint an accurate picture of what they experience, you will be more successful in converting your customers because you show that the product has been designed especially for them.

Ramit dives deep into any objections that a potential client may have. He even labelled them. “scripts”:

Remember that this principle can be applied to all forms of copywriting, including sales pages.

As an example, the ad below from HubSpot shows how tedious it is to sort through all of the data that a CRM holds.

What is the best way to talk to customers from a tactful perspective?

You might not have the time before you need to submit your work to speak to several customers if you are working for a client. Ask if it’s possible to speak with the sales representative. You can ask them to tell you the main objections or pain points.

If the client is recording sales calls, then you could download those transcripts and upload them into an AI tool such as ChatGPT to ask the AI to determine the common objections and pain points.

Reddit or Facebook groups can help you learn about your client’s pain points if they don’t have sales data.

You can learn a lot about what people are buying by reading a Reddit post on weight loss.

ChatGPT can be used to ask questions by copying and pasting Reddit’s threads.

  • What are the biggest problems that people encounter when beginning a diet program?
  • What is the most popular diet?
  • What are the commonest reasons given for someone to plateau during a weight loss diet?

You can use all of this information to enhance your work.

The communities can also help you understand the language and tone used by these individuals.

2.) 2.)

Your industry’s leading players have probably already spent a lot of money and time testing copy.

Start with their version instead of having to start from scratch. You can learn more about what works.

The LinkedIn and Facebook Ads Library is a great place to start, as it’s easy to experiment with paid ads, plus you can track which ones ran for the longest.

The ads that have been running the longest are usually the most successful and feature the best pain points. This ad, for example, started almost a year ago (2 September 2025), with the primary pain point being the coordination and execution of training video shoots.

If I am writing an email or sales page, then I will still look at the ads of my competition to determine what pain points are most relevant to address.

You’ll find that some of these problems are obvious but there will also be gems.

Close’s ad, for instance, shows that noisy CRM data leads to lost sales.

You have provided me with some very useful information on pain points that I could include in my own copy.

3.) Swipe Files

You can create a copy file that includes the most effective copy you find.

In the swipe file you can save sales pages and ads, as well as headlines that grab your attention.

Refer to the following sources for inspiration when you create your own swipe files SwipeFile.comThis website is maintained by renowned copywriter Neville Medhora.

The copy of other copywriters is often more valuable than the copy created by a newbie copywriter. This is because they are more likely to have a keener eye for what makes a good advertisement.

4.) Establish a Writing Process

When you learn to be a better writer, you will realize that the best copywriting results from a combination of carefully placed objections, pain points and CTAs.

It is important to create a process for writing because you will not miss out on any of the steps necessary to write effective copy.

The process you use will depend on what type of copywriting it is (e.g. email newsletters, blogs, sales pages, etc.).).

This is my writing process, for example, when I write copy for a post on a blog:

  1. Research on customer satisfactionAs an example, when I write content for Copyblogger I read through the topics on Copyblogger Academy. These are usually the most relevant. This post was written because I read that a few group members joined the group to learn more about copywriting.
  1. What I consider to be an anti-best Practice angleThe majority of SEO articles sound alike. In order to avoid giving the same advice over and over again, I have come up with my own unique approach. In this article, instead of focusing on how to become a better writer, I will focus on an angle. “how can I build skills that make my copy drive more revenue?”
  1. Writing with Real Experiences and ExamplesFinal step in my writing process: the actual creation of content. Instead of just presenting theories, I provide examples for every point and offer actionable items.

This is my blog-writing process. The process is short, simple and ensures that each article:

  1. Addressing the pain points of your audience
  2. Speak in a way that they can relate to.
  3. Provides unique value.

I also don’t need to worry anymore about facing writer’s block or staring at blank pages.

5.) Write a Practice Essay

You can only improve your writing skills by practicing.

Instead of simply writing more, try these practical writing tips.

  1. Plan it in your calendarEvery morning, set aside 30 minutes on your calendar for writing.
  2. AccountabilityIt’s a good idea to make an agreement with a buddy that they will read your daily writing. You don’t need to share it with them, but you will be held accountable. You can also use an online platform such as stickK Bet money to hold you accountable.
  3. Rewrite existing copyYou may remember the file of swipes from before. Rewrite the copy (by hand), instead of writing it yourself. It will improve your ability to internalize copywriting techniques.

Also, I encourage you to create copy for your products or services.

If you’re interested in becoming a LinkedIn ghostwriter then start by writing LinkedIn articles for yourself to grow your audience.

You will become a more effective LinkedIn ghostwriter if you write your own LinkedIn articles. It will help you to understand the type of content that generates revenue. Copywriting that is tied to revenue will allow you to charge your clients more.

Alternatively, your personal profile can be used as a sample when pitching to potential clients.

Start a blog to start your career as a SEO blogger. affiliate marketing website Try to rank your content in Google by using specific keywords.

You could also use a tool like Vibe Code to create a SaaS-based blog. Loveable Market and then sell it.

A dropshipping shop is another option.

A friend of mine, who is now a six-figure copywriter, began her career as a writer by opening a dropshipping shop selling cuckoo watches.

This led to people calling her for repair service rather than buying new clocks. The lesson she learned was the value of creating content. Buy with Intent Instead, Visitor.

If you can build a side business that involves copywriting to promote your products and services, it could be more lucrative than writing for others.

6.) 6.)

I used to be against AI when it came to writing. However, I have learned that AI can help me write better.

All of these ideas still occur to me You can also find out more about the following: For my content I use ChatGPT for a number of different reasons that, I feel, make it more powerful.

  • Research on pain points
  • The sentence structure
  • Example extraction

You’ll see the specific prompts that I use to make each point.

Pain Point Research

ChatGPT helps me research customer pain points in addition to Reddit.

Here’s an example of the question I asked when researching for this article:

ChatGPT was a great source of information. As I mentioned above in (Practice Writing), for example, I gave guidance on What is the best way to learn about? Practice writing every day (e.g. have a partner to hold you accountable, or set aside some time).).

As a copywriter, I know these are also true. ChatGPT’s list of ideas isn’t meant to be a copy generator. It serves as a reminder for me.

The use of sentence phrasing

ChatGPT can rephrase a passage for you if I am struggling to find a phrase that makes sense.

Use this prompt

“Can you rewrite this passage with more clarity?”

You may still need to tweak your passage or change the tone of writing, but you will learn new sentences to use and become more proficient as a writer.

Examples of Extraction

Copywriters are often asked to cover topics in which they don’t have expertise.

For these scenarios, you’ll need to look for examples or quotes by experts.

ChatGPT can be a great resource for examples. If I had written a blog post about the different styles of partnership in influencer marketing, then I would have wanted to see what influencer marketers were saying regarding influencer gifts.

ChatGPT found me a few quotes on the subject from LinkedIn influencers.

Influencer marketers running gifting campaigns on LinkedIn have some really outstanding posts.

It was in fact this blog post that I ultimately referenced in my copy.

The AI doesn’t generate the blog post, but I can uncover new insights.

7.) Master One Platform

The content, hooks and writing style of each platform will vary.

Content that promotes thought leadership performs better on LinkedIn. However, content with a how-to feel is more suitable for blogs.

If you are able to understand and use the platform algorithm’s nuances, then you will be able to generate more ROI from your work, which can ultimately lead you justifying charging a higher price for the work.

You can charge more if, as a blogger for instance, you learn how Google’s algorithms work and basic keyword research techniques. This is because you will have more powerful content (that will appeal to more customers).

You can also learn how to increase engagement for your clients’ posts by learning the LinkedIn algorithm.

You can charge more money for LinkedIn ghostwriting services if you generate more engagement.

8.) How to Measure the ROI of your Work

You’ll get ten opinions if you show the same document to 10 different people.

Use data instead of asking for opinions from peers to determine what type of content is most effective and what makes it so.

Here are some guidelines to help you track ROI for different marketing channels.

Ghostwriting on Twitter/LinkedIn

Many copywriters make the error of confusing engagement and revenue. Not all engagements are equally valuable. Only your best customers should receive attention.

Consider the comments made by the people who are commenting.

If you sell B2B software for sales and people are commenting, it’s likely that the content that you have created is appealing to the right audience. Your content will not generate the desired attention if you have junior sales staff or other non-sales professionals commenting.

Here are a few people who have commented on an article by Gaetano Nio DiNardi. He is an SEO expert. It’s good to see that the high-level marketing executives are responding positively.

Ask your client to include a “how did you hear about us?” form to your demo signups and purchase forms (or any event they’re tracking as a ‘conversion’) and ensure one of the options is “(your client’s name) Twitter/LinkedIn posts.”

Blog Content

Traffic is often equated with success. However, not all traffic has value. If you are a blogger for a company selling cybersecurity to large corporations, then a post that attracts thousands of students who want to learn more about the field won’t generate revenue.

You can ask them to do this instead. Even send your client this article. how to set up conversion tracking for blog content.

You can generate more income if you are able to tie your blog’s content to revenue.

Sales Pages/Email Funnels

It is fairly simple to monitor the revenue generated by specific sales pages or offers. Many clients already track these metrics. So ask them for the results.

9.) 9.)

By making mistakes and observing other people’s mistakes, you can learn.

It is easier to learn from the mistakes of others and it accelerates your development.

It is important to join a copywriters’ group.

Joining the group will not make you an instant copywriter. The group must be used effectively.

These are some ways you can go about it:

  1. You can get feedback about your work by asking for itAsk the community for specific suggestions on how to improve your work. If you want feedback about your work, ask specific questions. “How would you improve the hook?”
  2. What are their learnings and trends?Assert yourself with good questions “What did you learn this year about LinkedIn ghostwriting that has improved your copy the most?” You can also find out more about “What’s your process for writing LinkedIn posts?” Make sure you are being as specific as possible when asking questions to get the most helpful responses.
  3. Develop genuine relationships By fostering relationships by commenting and contributing your insights to the discussion, you will be able to collaborate and support one another.

Consider carefully the person who gives you feedback when you are asking for feedback.

Take their feedback with a pinch of salt, for example, if they are also an amateur copywriter. It doesn’t mean that they will always be right. It is not a good idea to useYou should also use your judgement when you evaluate feedback. Also, give greater weight to the opinions of experienced copywriters.

Finding a group of copywriters who can provide feedback is difficult.

The process of establishing a career as a writer can be challenging and lonely.

Copyblogger Academy was born out of this need. It can be difficult and lonely to build a career and business as a writer.

Copyblogger Academy provides you with the accountability and support you need as a successful copywriter.

This course will give you access to a variety of digital marketing topics, such as SEO, copywriting, email marketing, and personal branding.

The community is what makes Copyblogger Academy so valuable. In the chat, you can ask me or my partner Charles Miller for feedback on your copywriting.

We are both seven-figure marketing experts (Charles is an expert in personal branding, while my specialties lie in content, SEO and email marketing), so we will personally read your copy and provide feedback.

Using social media to engage in conversations, share job leads, etc., you can develop relationships and build stronger bonds with other members of the group.

This is the kind of community that I wish existed when I was a budding entrepreneur.

Now you can start improving and connecting your copy.

10.) Take action but be patient with the results

The quote is from a famous businessman Naval Ravikant.

You should strive to improve, write and test as much each day as you can. But, don’t wait for results in the first few months.

If you keep writing and improving over time, eventually you’ll find success.

Now is the time to improve your writing skills

All copywriters have different paths to success. But they share a common bond: mentors and friends who help them grow.

Join Copyblogger Academy to find a supportive community.

Joining the community costs only $1 and gives you access to all the content, including the Community, the Courses on Copywriting and Personal Branding, as well as direct feedback from Charles and myself on your work.

Copyblogger Academy This is the group that I wish I’d had when I was a young entrepreneur. For just $1, you can become a highly-paid copywriter.
