Claude is where I do a lot of brainstorming and first drafts. In Claude, I sketch out the idea for a LinkedIn article, develop a semi-formed thought I got on a stroll, or combine a couple of screenshots, an Apple Note quote, and a Canva half-finished file to produce something that I want to share.
Since I linked Claude with Buffer, sharing on social media is even more convenient.
Now, I can use Claude to find out what I have already saved about a topic. Let it draw from my existing tools, help me shape an idea when it is still hot and then send it directly to Buffer without leaving the chat. The first time AI felt helpful for my real workflows instead of just answering questions.
This is how you set it up, and this is how I use my phone every day.
What is Buffer and how does it interact with Claude
You may not be familiar with the word. MCP (Model Context Protocol) The connector is what allows an AI assistant, like Claude to communicate with other apps securely and under your control. It’s the wiring behind Claude, which transforms it from a simple chat window to something you can use in any other app.
Buffer MCP integrates AI assistants such as Claude with your Buffer account. After it is set up you can use plain English to ask Claude to perform the tasks you would normally do in Buffer:
- Check out what you can watch on all of your favorite channels this week
- Create and schedule your new blog post
- You can rewrite an article for another platform
- You can edit something that is already on your list
- Add an idea to the content you want to save for later.
The Buffer app works with all channels supported by the company, including: LinkedIn, X. Instagram. Threads. Facebook. TikTok. Pinterest. YouTube. Bluesky. Mastodon.
The same flow also works for other agents. Buffer offers MCPs that work with Cursor and Raycast. ChatGPT, Perplexity, and others are also on the roadmap. Claude will be the most suitable option for you if your chatbot is heavy. “I have an idea” The following are some of the ways to get in touch with us: “it’s scheduled” You can’t just scurry around the tools.
What is the connection between Buffer and Claude?
It’s easier than you think to set up this flow! You can do this in two different ways, both of which should only take five minutes.
Connect Buffer MCP with Claude
- Go to the Claude Web or Desktop. Customize Tab
- Select ConnectorsHit the + plus Click the button to continue. •••Add custom connector
- Select Add, The MCP will prompt you to give Claude the permission to access Buffer via your account.
- That’s it!
The box will appear with two fields: Name (this field should read Buffer, Buffer MCP or Remote Server URL), which is: https://mcp.buffer.com/mcp
Connect Buffer API and Claude
You can also connect Buffer using the API if you’d like to take it a little further. This will give you more control (you can name and set keys, you may set expirations and you see the usage on the developer dashboard of Buffer). You can do it just as easily. The sequence is:
1. Open Buffer Integrations Settings.
To Buffer: Settings → Integrations Choose Claude. Buffer will walk you through generating a personal API key from there — give it a name like “Claude” So future you remember what the item is for.
2. Install the latest version of Node.js.
It’s the only step people get wrong (at least, it was me). Buffer MCP requires Node version 18 and higher to run. Node is not required if you have never used it. grab it from nodejs.org. This should take only a few minutes.
Run Node.js if you already use Node. Node v Check the version of your Terminal.
3. Add Buffer To Claude Desktop.
Buffer provides you with the exact configuration to paste in Settings.
In Claude Desktop, go to Settings → Developer → Edit Config, paste it in, then restart Claude. Edit Config opens the appropriate file for your OS. No need to find folders. That’s it.
If you want to know if your MCP is functioning as it should, then ask Claude: “List my Buffer channels.” Then you are in.

Use Buffer + Claude to Post to Social Media
It’s now time to experiment with the MCP. Buffer and Claude are connected so that the same chat can be used as your scheduler and editor. It also becomes your scratchpad and morning check-in. If you’re looking for inspiration, here are four of the ways that I use this connection.
View the schedules for all channels
Asking Claude about my weekly schedule is what I do first in the morning.
My personal account and Buffer’s organization are both part of my Buffer. If you don’t have the MCP installed, it would mean logging in to Buffer, changing organizations, selecting each queue and mentally assembling what is going on.
You can open Claude, and I will ask you: “What’s on the schedule for my personal accounts this week?” Claude then returns a breakdown, with the time, channel and summary. If the queue is full, then I am free to go on with my day.
Even if this was all the MCP could do, I would still use it. Thankfully, this is not the case.
Draft, schedule, and repurpose posts — or save them for later
It’s this step that has had the biggest impact on my work flow. With Wispr Flow, I can dictate my thoughts, use Claude to point at a carousel or video that sparked a thought, or paste a few screenshots.
Claude is also great because he uses my skill that I have cleverly named “custom”. “tamis-foundation” To improve my voice and tone, I also need to refine my thoughts. The more I write, the better it becomes. After I am satisfied with my first draft, I ask Claude to do either:
- Drop it into my Buffer queue. If I want to schedule a post that is text, then I can have Claude set it up at a certain time. Or he can use one of the times pre-set by me.
- Add to my ideas It can be a script for a video or text to make a carousel. I save it with my other content ideas so that I can refer back to it whenever I’m creating.
You can use the integration to reuse content. If I see that a certain post could be used on another platform after it has been scheduled, then I simply follow-up with: “Give me a version for [platform].” It will rewrite the code for any platform that I choose.
Posts already queued for editing
I may schedule a post and then come back later to read the first line or to realize that I forgot to include a CTA. With MCP I just have to tell Claude the changes I would like and it will do it.
I wanted to try adding a new CTA to one of my LinkedIn drafts and so asked Claude to rework that particular line. I had only done it as a test and didn’t give it much thought. But Claude pointed out that my CTA was not in line with the subject of the article. You don’t have to worry. I removed it again.
The fact that I can edit my posts in Claude is a huge plus.
You can now do more actual work and less switching between contexts.
It feels like my time is back when it comes to being social. The benefits of scheduling social media in Claude start with less scrolling and continue to grow.
Claude is not a substitute for creativity. It can’t make videos or carousels. It gets me closer than ever to being done.
