“How useful is it actually, but also how good is the software?” Sag says. “Everybody’s going to have some kind of AI—AI earbuds, AI glasses. But if the software sucks, they’re going to be useless.”
Wearables: Beyond the Wearables
Right now, AI is on your face and arms—smart glasses and smart watches—but this year will see it proliferate further into products like earbuds, headphones, and smart clothing.
AI-based features will be seen in the health sector as well, since companies are aiming to use AI technology to track biometric information from wristbands and rings. Health sensors are also expected to appear in more places, such as toilets, brassieres and bath mats.
Smart homes will keep being boosted by artificial intelligence. More products are coming out that listen to, see and understand the happenings in your home. AI will soon be used to upgrade the smart home, including vacuums with AI and cameras. But there are also some surprising AI partners like garage door openers and refrigerators.
Some people in the AI gadgets business might decide to keep their breath and wait to see what happens. OpenAI’s new gadget strategy What it looks like. The company has revealed that its first consumer tech products will be personal devices—a home audio player and a note-taking pen, reportedly—though those aren’t expected to arrive for at least another year, and there could be more in store.
CES, of course is still a major car show. The cars we’ll see in Las Vegas will be design concepts. However, they show us how automakers think about the future of the in-car environment with LLMs cameras and AI. In-car AI is currently able to adjust the music and find charging stations, but we’ll learn more about it this week.
